Sallyswag is a musical juggernaut, a colorful, stagey live band and musical collective.

Sparkling solo elements, fierce grooves and feminist messages shape the band, and together they are a completely unique musical statement. The members have their roots in dancehall, r’n’b, hip-hop, pop, jazz, Balkan, oriental, Afro and Swedish folk music.

Sallyswag’s latest disc Käftsmällens Mamma (2022) holds your hand, soft and firm at first, but eventually squeezes and demands that you tie it.

One foot on the ground and one hand in the air! Together we are stronger than the storm!

It all started when violinist and national fiddler Erika Risinger decided to start her dream band. She sought out the coolest and best musicians she could find. The result was nine people strong Sallyswag. They met in Gothenburg and started writing music. After a few weeks of jamming and writing, they had a fresh and unique repertoire – ready to face the world!

Since then, Sallyswag has played concerts all over Sweden, at jazz stages such as Nefertiti and Fasching, folk music festivals such as Urkult, Linköping Folkmusikfestival and Umefolk as well as festivals such as Peace & Love, Öland Roots, West Pride and Stockholm Pride Festival to name a few. They have received the Newcomer of the Year award at the Folk and World Music Gala, and their debut album was nominated by the Manifest Gala for Rhythm of the Year, and the band received the Future Music Award, for “With musical integrity and quality, they dare to creatively break down old barriers and cross genres. They have a drive that encourages change, not just in music, but society in general.”
